We offer a variety of classes rooted in the fiber arts. Classes range from beginner to advanced levels. All classes are held on-site in the shop unless otherwise noted. Class descriptions are available below for our current offerings!

  • Curious about sewing but not sure where to start? This hands-on class is the perfect introduction! Learn how to confidently use a sewing machine as we cover essential techniques like straight stitching, back-stitching, basic hand-sewn closures, and machine safety. Whether you're dreaming of future projects or just want to try something new, you'll leave with practical skills and the confidence to keep sewing.

    Have a sewing machine at home? Bring it along—many people find it easiest to learn on their own machine. Don’t have one? No problem! We have plenty available for you to use at SewGreen.

  • Have your own machine and want to learn more? Take your sewing skills to the next level by learning to confidently use and troubleshoot your own machine! This class covers tension adjustment, stitch selection, presser feet, basic maintenance, and more.

    BRING YOUR OWN MACHINE - Limited to 4 students

    Pre-requisite: Sewing 101 or Basic machine sewing skills.

  • Learn the basics of foundation paper piecing in this beginner-friendly class using a ready-made pattern. You'll build confidence and accuracy while creating detailed designs—great for quilters of any skill level! Basic sewing machine skills required, this is not an introductory sewing class.

  • Join us for a casual fabric card-making class in the shop!

    Learn the art of fabric card-making in this beginner-friendly class. Make elegant note cards using scraps and your imagination! Basic sewing machine skills required.

  • Learn the art of hand embroidery in this beginner-friendly class. You’ll practice basic stitches and techniques to create your own decorative decorative designs. No experience needed – just bring your creativity!

  • Dive into the world of yarn with this beginning level crochet class. During this two-hour class you’ll learn the basics of crochet including hand control and basic crochet stitches.

  • Dive into the world of yarn with this beginning knitting class. You’ll get hands-on practice with hand control, casting on, the knit stitch, and casting off – everything you need to start your first project.

FAQs

  • All cancellations must be made with a minimum of 24 hour advance notice.

    If you are cancelling 24 hours or more prior to a class you may be entitled to a refund or rebooking of the class.

  • Classes may not be refunded unless the class is cancelled by SewGreen Rochester.

    If you are cancelling due to illness or emergency, please do so by calling the shop at 585-328-2642 with a minimum of 24 hours before the class.

    No call-no show’s will not be entitled to a refund or rescheduling of the class.

  • Yes! We are always accepting proposals for classes. Please send a message to classes@sewgreenrochester.org or use the form below.

  • Classes are typically reserved for ages 10+ unless otherwise noted.

    We do from time to time offer kid friendly classes, please be on the lookout for those offerings.
