SewGreen thrives on the donations from our generous community. By donating, you are helping our mission of sustainability by keeping materials out of landfills and supporting our local neighbors with affordable fiber arts materials.

Monetary donations help our organization to operate and fund internship, school and educational programs. We are grateful for your generosity.

SewGreen is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, your donations are tax deductible.

MONETARY DONATIONS

Due to an overwhelmingly large donation of fabric, SewGreen can only accommodate smaller donations at this time (no larger than a 13 gallon kitchen garbage bag or a 66 quart plastic tote) as we navigate storage solutions.

We are in greater need of garment type fabrics & all purpose sewing thread (no wooden spools please)

Donation Guidelines:

  • All donations must be clean, free of stains & odor free: ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKE, MOLD OR MILDEW, RODENT DROPPINGS/NESTS (please check before donating as these are potential hazards)

  • Fabric must be folded flat & no pins 

  • Materials should be in clear plastic bags or bins

  • Donations by appointment only, please

  • We cannot accept articles of clothing or garments (including partially sewn/knitted/crocheted), tablecloths, slip covers, etc. These items may be donated to places like Goodwill, etc.

  • If you are unsure of an item, please email hello@sewgreenrochester.org for confirmation

Items we take:

  • Garment type fabrics (Cotton/Linen, Wool, Synthetics)

  • Heavy Duty Utility fabrics (cotton duck canvas, rip stop nylon, etc.)

  • Home Decor fabrics

  • Quilting Cottons of any size (including scraps & crumbs)

  • Irons & Ironing Accessories

  • Textile/Fabric Dye

  • Yarn

  • Thread (No wooden spools please - these are susceptible to dry rot)

  • Buttons & Beads

  • Poly-fil & Batting

  • Patterns

  • Quilting Tools

  • Scissors (Dressmaker/Fabric Shears Only - No pinking shears please)

  • Pins & Needles

  • Knitting Needles & Crochet Hooks

  • Embroidery Floss

  • Trim, Lace & Ribbon

  • Needlecraft Kits

  • Sewing Baskets

  • Pillow Forms (must be sealed and unused)

  • Portable Sewing Machines (No Cabinets)

  • Unfinished Projects

  • Clothing/Garments

  • Slip covers

  • Throw Pillows

  • Drapes

  • Bed & Table Linens

  • Used stuffing

  • Fur

  • Feathers

  • Foam Rubber

  • Cabinet Sewing Machines

  • Upholstery Samples

  • Craft items (paints, brushes, markers, crayons, craft wood items, etc.) - Please donate these types of items to Crafting For Good or Craft Bits & Pieces.
